Aplethorpe Hall - Northamptonshire — Allow 2 hours for this trip, its not far but getting in and out of London can sometimes be difficult. This is an exceptional Jacobean house steeped in history. Museum of Domestic Design & Architecture — MoDA's varied exhibitions give a vivid picture of domestic life in the first half of the twentieth century. They also look at contemporary design, art and issues related to the domestic environment

The current exhibition examines the lives of English via their decoration and design from the early 1900s to today. There’s a permanent exhibition of inteior rooms, lounge, salon and kitchen and the interior design patterns and fabrics that were used.

The Shell Guides – Learn more about what it is to be British, this exhibition examines the influence of these guides created by young artists and authors that links design, writing and imagery in 20th Century Britain.

Down House — Charles Darwin’s country home. This is an important visit into the home of one of the world’s most famous scientist. Many of his personal items remain unchanged including photographs of his ten children.

There’s been recent renovation to the exterior of the house and a new tea room for visitors. You can visit the official site for more details, however I’ve listed one below that’s much more informative in terms of direction and history.
